American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN)
On January 22, 2018, the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) presented the Distinguished Nutrition Support Nurse Service Award to Marianne Opilla, RN, BSN, CNSC during the ASPEN 2018 Nutrition Science and Practice Conference.
This award is given to the nurse member who has made exceptional leadership and practice contributions that have furthered the vision and mission of the society over a sustained period of time.
Marianne has been a Nutrition Support specialist in the home and hospital settings since the mid-1980’s and a certified as nutrition support clinician since 1992. She worked on the Nutrition Support Team at VCU Health Systems from 1989-2005 prior to joining Nutrishare in 2005. Marianne has published several book chapters and journal articles on nutrition support topics and with a particular interest (and expertise) in all aspects of vascular access.
Reid Nishikawa, Pharm D, BCNSP Nutrishare’s Director of Research and Coordinator of Clinical Services he’s been awarded the Fellowship designation (FASPEN) from the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) for “exceptional achievement in practice or research and service to the organization”.
Dr. Andrew Ukelja, (Cleveland Clinic Florida) states “Dr. Nishikawa is a genuine role model for young pharmacists. He has outstanding skills to manage parenteral nutrition. He is recognized as an outstanding clinician and scientist by his peers.”
Dr. Steve McClave (Professor of Medicine, Gastroenterology, Louisville, KY) wrote “I consider Reid Nishikawa to be one of our nationally recognized experts in complications of parenteral nutrition and the clinical aspects of home parenteral nutrition. Reid is my immediate go-to-person for all questions I have regarding indications of management and complications of home parenteral nutrition.”
Dr. Alan Buchman, Visiting Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Illinois, also noted Reid’s extensive clinical excellence in his letter of support but further discussed Reid’s commitment to patients receiving nutrition support. “Reid is resourceful, displays empathy, is a strong patient advocate and has truly helped patients” according to Dr. Buchman.
All of us are happy to join ASPEN in recognizing Reid Nishikawa, Pharm D, BCNSP, FASPEN. He received the award at the ASPEN Nutrition Science & Practice Conference January 22, 2018, in Las Vegas, NV. Reid joins Carol Ireton-Jones, PhD, RDN, CNSC, FASPEN as Nutrishares second clinician to receive this honor.
Carol Ireton-Jones, PhD, RDN, CNSC, FASPEN received the Distinguished Nutrition Support Dietitian Service Award also presented during the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) Nutrition Science and Practice Conference on January 22, 2018. This award is given to the dietitian member who has made exceptional leadership and practice contributions that have furthered the vision and mission of the society over a sustained period of time. Initially starting out in critical care nutrition, Carol has been working with parenteral and enteral nutrition since 1979. She was one of the first home nutrition support dietitians starting in 1991 and has been certified as a nutrition support clinician since 1988. Carol has published 3 books with 2 specifically on home nutrition support and numerous journal articles and abstracts. She speaks nationally and internationally. Since joining Nutrishare in 2014 Carol has enjoyed working as a team with the pharmacists and nurses to provide the expert clinical care that is the cornerstone of Nutrishare’s mission for consumers

Nutrishare, Inc. selected to receive the Clinical Nutrition Team of Distinction Award by A.S.P.E.N.
The American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, ASPEN, has selected Nutrishare, Inc. to be awarded the Clinical Nutrition Team of Distinction Award during Clinical Nutrition Week 2016 (CNW16).
This award recognizes excellence in interdisciplinary clinical nutrition practice in institutions or agencies who meet certain criteria and compliance with ASPEN national standards, guidelines and values.
The award was presented during the Keynote Address at CNW16 in Austin, Texas on January 17, 2016.
